The Highclere Stud reared and consigned, Camelot, remains hot favourite for the 2,000 Guineas on 5th May. In addition, the Highclere consigned colt, Power, is also a strong contender.
Camelot cruised to victory in the Racing Post Trophy (Gr.1) at Doncaster last year, and is also favourite for the Epsom Derby. Trained by Aidan O’Brien, this unbeaten colt was the most expensive yearling by Montjeu in 2010 having made 525,000gns at Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 when knocked down to Demi O’Byrne. Bred by Sheikh Abdulla Bin Isa Al-Khalifa, he is out of the Kingmambo mare Tarfah, who won the Group 3 Dahlia Stakes.
The Oasis Dream colt Power won the 2011 Goffs National Stakes (Gr.1), following up a close second in the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes (Gr.1) and victory in the Coventry Stakes (Gr.2) at Royal Ascot for trainer Aidan O’Brien.
Another Highclere consigned horse with an exciting season ahead is Bonfire, who following his two-year-old debut victory was third in the Criterium International (Gr.1) at Saint Cloud for trainer Andrew Balding. Bred and raised by Highclere Stud in partnership with Floors Stud, this Manduro two-year-old colt was purchased by John Warren Bloodstock for Highclere Thoroughbred Racing at Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1.

Harris Tweed’s comfortable victory in the Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise Stakes (Gr.3 – John Porter Stakes) at Newbury on 21st April was one of several exciting winners for Highclere last week.
Trained by William Haggas and owned and bred by his father, it was a third Stakes success for this Hernando five-year-old who is out of the mare Frog and was foaled and reared at Highclere Stud.
In addition, Harris Tweed’s half-sister, the three-year-old Vow by Motivator, won at Newbury on her debut for trainer William Haggas and owner Highclere Thoroughbred Racing. Foaled and consigned by Highclere Stud and also a half-sister to Gr.3 winner Beaten Up, she looks an exciting prospect for the season ahead.
Another three-year-old consigned and bred by Highclere Stud to win his maiden at Newbury last week was Minimise Risk. By Galileo out of Dararita, this colt has a bright future for trainer Andrew Balding and owner Mrs Fitri Hay.
Earlier in the week Highclere Thoroughbred Racing was also successful with Tassel who won on her two-year-old debut when landing the Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Newmarket on 19th April in impressive fashion. Trained by Richard Hannon and purchased by John Warren Bloodstock for 42,000gns from DBS Premier Sales, a trip to Royal Ascot looks on the cards for this Kyllachy filly.
