Mares consigned by Highclere Stud at Tattersalls realise up to 1,300,000gns

The exciting draft of mares and fillies consigned by Highclere Stud at the December Sales lived up to expectations, realising up to 1,300,000gns for the Storm Cat mare, PEARLING.

Consigned on behalf of Hill ‘n Dale Equine Holdings, PEARLING, is a full-sister to leading sire Giants Causeway and is in-foal to Galileo (Lot 1707). Acting for Kuwait-based owners Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar, owners of Blue Diamond Stud near Newmarket, she was purchased by Tony Nerses, who said: “She is an exciting new addition to our broodmare band and had everything we wanted: substance, a good page and great bloodlines.”

The draft also featured MRS MARSH, dam of five-time Gr.1 winner and Champion Miler Canford Cliffs in foal to Dansili (Lot 1710). Adrian Nicoll of BBA Ireland had to go to 850,000gns for this daughter of Marju, and said: “She’s a lovely mare and Canford Cliff is an outstanding-looking horse. She ticks all the right boxes and will be going back to Ireland for foreign-based clients. They wanted a mare that would be suitable for Galileo.”

Other mares well received in the sales ring were AQUAINTED, the Listed placed daughter of Love Everlasting from the family of Shirley Heights in-foal to Lawman, who fetched 130,000gns when knocked down to Stonereath Farms; and the Listed winner MARY BOLEYN in-foal to Dubawi sold to Blandford Bloodstock for 310,000gns.

Several fillies were also offered as part of the Highclere Stud consignment including top two-year-old filly, MEMORY, winner of the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and Gr.2 Cherry Hinton Stakes, who was sold privately at the sales; and Hugo Lascelles Bloodstock purchased the other Highclere Thoroughbred Racing filly, Gr.3 winning sprinter ROSE BLOSSOM, for 115,000gns.

Highclere Stud was the second leading consignor at this Tattersalls December Sale with an aggregate of 2,842,000gns for 9 horses sold.

Highclere Stud Tattersalls December Sales Draft

Following on from being Leading Consignor at Tattersalls October Sales Book 1, Highclere Stud has an exciting draft of mares and fillies for the December Sale.

The draft features MRS MARSH, dam of five-time Gr.1 winner and Champion Miler Canford Cliffs (Lot 1710). She is in-foal to leading sire Dansili. Her yearling colt by Excellent Art was purchased by John Warren for Highclere Thoroughbred Racing for £210,000 and she has a filly foal by Sea The Stars.

Another outstanding offering is the Storm Cat mare, PEARLING, a full-sister to leading sire Giants Causeway and in foal to Galileo (Lot 1707). Her half-sister Love Me Only sold at Keeneland in-foal to Sea The Stars for $2.1 million.

The mare draft also includes AQUAINTED the Listed placed daughter of Love Everlasting from the family of Shirley Heights in-foal to Lawman (Lot 1398), and the Listed winner MARY BOLEYN in-foal to Dubawi (Lot 1706).

Two further mares in the draft are three-times Stakes producer MISS QUEEN in-foal to Highclere’s resident stallion PACO BOY (Lot 1397), and MAKING HAY a half-sister to Gr.1 winner Ask also in-foal to Paco Boy (Lot 1399). Highclere will also be offering BOWNESS, a Stakes placed dual winner in foal to sire sensation Acclamation (Lot 1402).

There are also quality fillies including the ROA Champion two-year-old filly, MEMORY who is the dual Group winner of the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and Gr.2 Cherry Hinton Stakes (Lot 1709). The Gr.3 winning top class sprinter ROSE BLOSSOM is another of the Highclere Thoroughbred Racing fillies (Lot 1708), and the tough and consistent Listed Galtres winner, BRUSHING who was trained so successfully by Mark Tompkins (Lot 1401).

Motivator continues Group winning success

The Motivator filly, Skia, won the Prix Fille de l’Air (Gr.3) over 1m2½f at Toulouse in France today adding to her Stakes form.

Trained by Carlos Laffon-Parias and home-bred by Leonidas Marinopoulos, Skia has previously finished second in the Prix Melisande (L) at Fontainebleau. She is one of 12 Stakes horses from just 63 foals in Motivator’s first crop.

Standing at The Royal Studs and managed by John Warren, Motivator has produced 11.7% Stakes horses to foals from his first two crops, higher than Acclamation, Cape Cross, Dalakhani, Invincible Spirit, Oasis Dream, Pivotal, Rock Of Gibraltar, etc (GB/IRE sires 2007 & 2008 crops).

There are also some exciting two-year-olds in Motivator’s third crop, with Stakes performers Tibaldi and Perennial, as well as smart maiden winners Rewarded and Mazeydd.

A hat trick of Stakes victories for Clinical

The Motivator filly, Clinical, scored her third Listed victory in a row when landing the 1m EBF Cooley Fillies’ Stakes (L) at Dundalk last night.

It was another brave performance by this three-year-old, who was following up wins in the Fleur De Lys Fillies’ Stakes (L) at Lingfield on 27th October, and an 8f Stakes race at Cologne in September, for owner/breeder Cheveley Park Stud and trainer Sir Mark Prescott Bt.  Earlier in the year Clinical also finished third in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes (Gr.3) at Epsom.

Motivator has produced 19 Stakes horses from his first two crops, including 12 from only 63 foals in his first crop.

There are also some exciting two-year-olds in Motivator’s third crop, with Stakes performers Tibaldi and Perennial, as well as smart maiden winners Rewarded and Mazeydd.
